A one-of-one Topps Dynasty Black card with the MLB Logoman from Shohei Ohtani’s pants on the night he hit three homers and struck out 10 sold for $3.24 million with buyer’s premium. Fanatics Collect closed the lot on Oct. 23, 2026, after 52 bids, the most a Los Angeles Dodgers card has brought at public auction.

Fanatics Collect ranks it third among Ohtani cards, behind an $11 million dual Gold Logoman and a $3.365 million rookie Superfractor. The bid still paid for a printed date, a named game, and a pair of pants from one October night.

Lot 1 Closed at $3.24 Million

The card is 2025 Topps MLB MVP The Game Dynasty Black Shohei Ohtani MLB Logoman Patch Auto #SOD-1, the only Dynasty Black in that set’s print run. It was Lot 1 of the October Premier Auction, which opened Oct. 8 and ended Oct. 23. PSA graded it a 9, certification 175111701, and lists a population of one.

THE OCTOBER PREMIER LOT

  • Final price: $3.24 million with the buyer’s premium, after 52 bids.
  • The grade: PSA 9 with a population of one, cert 175111701.
  • The relic: MLB Logoman cut from the pants Ohtani wore in NLCS Game 4 on Oct. 17, 2025.
  • Last-day jump: The bid sat at $1.74 million including premium that morning, then rose $1.5 million before the close.

Fanatics Collect’s own listing calls Dynasty Black a line reserved for the biggest nights in sports. This copy carries a “Games for the Ages” banner, the date under the patch, and the words “NLCS Game 4 Pants” up the frame. Ohtani is pictured twice on the front, once swinging and once throwing. The autograph is gold ink on black stock. The back shows the pants and names the game, so a buyer is not asked to trust a season-long jumble of fabric.

The Pants From Oct. 17, 2025

Game 4 of the National League Championship Series was played on a Friday night at Dodger Stadium, with the Dodgers already up three games to none on the Milwaukee Brewers. Ohtani started on the mound and hit leadoff. Los Angeles took a 5-1 win at Dodger Stadium in 2 hours 41 minutes, in front of 52,883, and swept the pennant.

THE NIGHT IN THE PATCH

  1. Oct. 17, 2025, first inning: Ohtani strikes out the side, then leads off with a 446-foot home run off Jose Quintana, the first leadoff homer by a pitcher in major league history.
  2. Fourth inning: After stranding a leadoff double with two punchouts, he hits a 469-foot shot off Chad Patrick that clears the right-field pavilion roof.
  3. Seventh inning: Pulled after six scoreless innings, he homers a third time, 427 feet off Trevor Megill, and the Dodgers close out the sweep.

His line was 6 innings, 2 hits, 3 walks, 10 strikeouts, 100 pitches, then 3-for-3 with a walk and three solo homers. The three balls traveled 1,342 feet. He is the only player to hit three home runs and record 10 strikeouts in the same game. Manager Dave Roberts called it “probably the greatest postseason performance of all time.” Teammate Kiké Hernández said, “He pulled the ultimate unicorn move tonight.”

Ohtani won NLCS MVP that night. The Dodgers went on to a second straight World Series title. The patch in the card is from the pants he wore while doing both jobs in the clincher, which is why the lot page reads like a box score instead of a catalog blurb.

What a Dynasty Black Card Holds

Most relic cards ask a collector to believe a swatch was worn sometime in a season. Dynasty Black, which Topps introduced in September 2024, prints the game. The 50/50 Ohtani set used the same trick on the pants from the night he became the first 50-homer, 50-steal player. This MVP Collection copy does it for Game 4.

The 2025 Topps MLB MVP Collection was built around Ohtani and Aaron Judge after both won a second straight MVP. The Dynasty Black was a random insert, one card in the whole run. Fanatics Collect checked the PSA cert against the grader’s database as of Sept. 24, 2026, and still showed a pop of one. A PSA 9 on a thick relic auto is about as clean as those cards grade, which is why the bidding did not stall when the number crossed $3 million.

Rookie Superfractors have a print story and a population report. A pants Logoman tied to one date has no cousins. That is the product Topps is selling, and it is the product this auction priced.

A Wrestler Paid $250 for the Spot

The consignor is Arik Cannon, a 44-year-old independent wrestler from St. Paul, Minn. In March he bought into an online box break hosted by East West Bats and paid about $250 for a randomized spot. A wheel spin landed him the Dynasty Black slot. The breakers turned over a redemption, not a finished card in a toploader.

Cannon never held the card. It has sat in the Fanatics Vault since he redeemed it. He said the first use of the money would be paying off his father’s debts. The auction house handled shipping, storage, and the sale. The person who spun a $250 spot on a wheel and the house that slabs and sells seven-figure cardboard split the night’s leftover value between them.

Hobby chatter after the close treated a $3 million-plus Ohtani Logoman as a real number, then argued over whether a named-game patch should outrank a true rookie Superfractor. The objection under that argument is 1/1 fatigue: too many one-of-ones, too many fortunes parked in a single slab. This sale did not settle that fight. It did show that when the patch can be mapped to a single box score, the bids still show up.

The 50/50 Logoman Went for $1.067 Million

The first public Dynasty Black Ohtani Logoman was the 50/50 pants card. It sold at Heritage Auctions on March 30, 2025, for $1.067 million with buyer’s premium, and it was the first Ohtani card to clear seven figures. This Game 4 copy sold for about three times that figure. The two cards share a recipe: a pants Logoman, an on-card auto, a printed night, a 1/1.

They do not share a market. Between those two hammers, Ohtani’s top cards moved into a different bracket, which is why this result is a Dodgers auction record and not an Ohtani record.

The $3 million Chrome Gold Logoman, pulled by a Minneapolis family in a Dodgers break, had been the Dodgers auction mark. This lot cleared that figure by $240,000. Four Dynasty Black cards have been made so far: three in the 50/50 set, this Ohtani from the MVP set, and a Clayton Kershaw card for his 3,000th strikeout. Two Ohtani Logomans from that line have now sold in public, and both cleared seven figures.

The Gold Batterman on Six Jerseys

The gold patch on award-winner uniforms is not a fashion extra. On March 15, 2025, MLB announced a Gold MLB Logo Patch program with Topps and Fanatics, and Nike put the gold Batterman on the back of the jerseys. Six 2024 award winners wore it for the 2025 season. Ten patches per player were pulled for Topps cards. The rest of the league kept the usual club-colored logo.

THE SIX GOLD PATCHES IN 2025

  • NL MVP: Shohei Ohtani, Los Angeles Dodgers, then a second straight MVP in 2025.
  • AL MVP: Aaron Judge, New York Yankees.
  • NL Cy Young: Chris Sale, Atlanta Braves.
  • AL Cy Young: Tarik Skubal, Detroit Tigers.
  • NL Rookie of the Year: Paul Skenes, Pittsburgh Pirates.
  • AL Rookie of the Year: Luis Gil, New York Yankees.

The program followed the 2023 MLB Debut Patch, which already taught the hobby that a logo ripped off a specific jersey can carry a date. Gold Logoman autos from the award set have since sold in public for $3 million (Ohtani, December 2025) and $2.16 million (Ohtani and Judge on one card, March 2026). The Dual Gold Logoman that later brought $11 million in a private deal used two of Ohtani’s gold MVP patches, English and kanji signatures on the same 1/1. Dynasty Black sits beside that factory: fewer cards, a named night, a garment on the back of the slab.

Third Among Ohtani Cards, First for the Dodgers

Fanatics Collect stated the ranking in its sale post: third-most expensive Ohtani card, most expensive Dodgers card at auction. The $11 million dual and the $3.365 million Superfractor both moved in private channels in July 2026. This lot did its work in the open, with 52 bids on a Premier clock, which is why the Dodgers record is the one that can be checked against a lot page.

Kevin Lenane, Fanatics Collect’s vice president, had already priced the origin before the hammer.

I think I can say without a question, it’s probably the best origin for a patch that we’ve ever seen. That might be the greatest game of baseball ever played.

Ohtani, asked that night about the outing, said he focused first on being an effective starting pitcher. The card does not quote him. It prints Oct. 17, 2025, shows the pants, and leaves the rest to the box score. The next named-night 1/1 will have that template to beat: a date on the front, a garment on the back, and a public auction willing to take the bid past $3 million when the night is large enough.

Stories here state currencies, units and time zones explicitly, name the country a law or a company belongs to, and explain local context rather than treating it as known. That care extends to sourcing: a claim is anchored to the filing, statement, transcript or dataset that made it, wherever in the world it was issued, and each figure is checked against that source before publication.
