Ownership & Funding
Why we publish this
You cannot judge a news source without knowing who owns it and who pays for it. Those two facts explain more about most outlets’ blind spots than any mission statement, so we state ours plainly and keep this page current. When anything below changes materially, this page changes with it, and we would rather over-disclose than let a reader discover a funding fact we did not volunteer.
Who owns MYWORLDNEWS24
MYWORLDNEWS24 and myworldnews24.com are owned and operated by a small independent team of editors. The site is not owned by, affiliated with, or operated on behalf of any media conglomerate, broadcaster, political party, government, religious organisation, investment fund or corporate group. There is no silent partner and no outside shareholder with a claim on editorial output. The people who own the site are the people who edit it, which is the shortest possible chain between financial interest and editorial responsibility: if coverage is ever bent to serve the owner, the owner and the editor who allowed it are the same people, and this page tells you exactly whom to blame.
We publish as a team rather than under individual bylines, for reasons explained on our About page. Accountability is not anonymous, though: a named human answers mail that needs one at support@myworldnews24.com.
How the site makes money
Our revenue comes from two sources, and only these two:
- Advertising. Display advertising served by third-party advertising networks is the primary income of the site. Advertisers buy audience, not coverage: campaigns are placed programmatically by the networks, most advertisers have no contact with us at all, and none see, commission, veto or edit stories. How advertising interacts with your privacy is covered in the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
- Affiliate links, where relevant and always disclosed. Occasionally, most plausibly in technology or entertainment coverage, a link to a product or service may earn us a commission if you buy through it. Any article containing affiliate links says so in plain sight. Commissions never determine what we cover or what we conclude: a product does not get a kinder verdict because its link pays, and coverage is never created in order to carry a link.
What we do not take
- No political money. We accept no funding, advertising exemptions, grants or payments of any kind from political parties, campaigns, candidates, governments or lobby groups, in any country. During election periods anywhere we cover, this rule does the most work, which is why it is absolute rather than case-by-case.
- No paid editorial. Nobody can buy a news story, a favourable mention, the removal of an accurate story, or a link placed inside editorial copy. Offers arrive regularly; the answer is a standing no, at any price, and the Advertise With Us page repeats it for the people who did not read this one.
- No undisclosed sponsorship. If sponsored content ever appears on this site, it will be visually distinct, labeled as sponsored at the top, and excluded from news categories. As of the last update of this page, we run none.
- No investor money seeking returns through coverage. We have taken no venture capital and no strategic investment. If that ever changes, the investor’s identity will appear on this page before their money changes anything else.
What our funding model costs us, honestly
Transparency cuts both ways, so here is the trade-off we accept. Advertising-funded journalism carries a structural temptation toward traffic for its own sake: the click-bait headline, the outrage angle, the story chosen because it will spread rather than because it matters. We hold the line against that with the rules in our Editorial Standards, particularly the headline rules, and with a simple internal test: would this story exist if it earned no traffic? Readers are entitled to watch for the failure mode our own model makes most likely, and to write to us when they think they see it winning.
Independence in practice
The wall between money and coverage has concrete mechanics, not just sentiment. Advertising is handled operationally through network dashboards, not through relationships with newsroom staff. No editor is compensated based on traffic to their stories. Coverage decisions about companies that advertise here, should we even know they do, are taken exactly as for any other company, and an advertiser threatening to pull spending over coverage will find the story unchanged and the threat ignored. If a conflict of interest ever becomes unavoidable, disclosure inside the affected story is the minimum response, and reassignment is the usual one.
Questions
If anything about our ownership or funding is unclear, or if you believe you have found a financial influence on our coverage that this page does not disclose, write to support@myworldnews24.com. That second kind of mail is the entire point of publishing this page, and it will be answered by an editor, not a template.
