Privacy Policy
The short version
MYWORLDNEWS24 (myworldnews24.com) is a news site, not a data business. You can read everything we publish without creating an account, and for most readers the only personal data we ever touch is the technical minimum a web server needs to deliver a page, plus whatever our advertising partners process to show ads. We do not sell personal data, we do not run our own profiles of readers, and we collect nothing beyond what this page describes. The longer version below exists because the details matter and because you should not have to take the short version on trust.
What we collect, and when
Data every website receives
When you load a page, your browser transmits your IP address, the page requested, the referring page, and technical details such as browser type and screen size. Our servers and hosting infrastructure log this the way virtually all servers do. We use these logs to keep the site running, to diagnose faults and to detect abuse such as scraping or attack traffic. Raw logs are retained for a short operational period and then deleted or reduced to aggregate statistics that identify nobody.
Data you choose to send us
If you email support@myworldnews24.com, we receive your address and whatever you write. We use it to answer you and, where relevant, to act on what you sent, for example a correction request or a news tip. Correspondence is kept as long as it is useful for that purpose and then deleted. We treat mail from confidential sources with particular care and do not share it outside the editorial team.
Data we do not collect
We have no user accounts, no registration, no comment system requiring a profile, and no newsletter unless one is announced with its own signup and its own explanation. We do not ask for your name, phone number, location or anything similar in order to read the news.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies on myworldnews24.com fall into two families: a small set that makes the site work, and a larger set placed by advertising partners. The complete inventory, including what each family does, how long cookies persist and how to refuse or delete them, lives in our Cookie Policy. Where the law where you live requires consent for non-essential cookies, we ask for it via a consent banner before those cookies are set, and you can change your answer later.
Advertising
The site is funded by advertising, and this is the honest complicated part of any privacy policy on an ad-supported site. Advertising networks that serve ads on our pages may process your IP address, cookie identifiers and browsing signals to select and measure ads, and in some regions to personalise them. Those networks act under their own privacy policies as well as this one. Two things are within our control and we state them plainly: we choose partners that support the consent frameworks applicable in regulated regions, and we do not hand our partners any data about you beyond what the ad-serving technology itself observes. Where you decline consent for personalised advertising, ads still appear but are selected without a personal profile.
Analytics
We measure readership so we know which stories are read and where the site is slow. We configure analytics conservatively: aggregate counts, shortened IP addresses where the tooling allows, and no attempt to identify individual readers. Analytics data answers questions like “how many readers did this article have” and never questions like “what has this person read”.
The legal bases we rely on
Where data protection law such as the GDPR applies, we process technical log data under our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site; correspondence under our legitimate interest in running a newsroom that answers its mail; and non-essential cookies under your consent. Nothing we do involves automated decisions with legal effect on you, and we do not process special-category data about readers.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict processing, to data portability and to withdraw consent. For most readers the honest answer to an access request is that we hold nothing that identifies you, but you are entitled to ask and we will answer accurately. Write to support@myworldnews24.com with PRIVACY in the subject line. We respond within the timelines the applicable law sets, and we do not charge for reasonable requests. If you believe we have handled your data unlawfully, you may also complain to the supervisory authority in your jurisdiction; we would prefer you write to us first, so we can fix it faster.
A note on journalism
This policy governs data about readers. Information gathered in the course of reporting, including information about people who feature in the news, is processed for journalistic purposes under the protections most data protection laws grant to journalism. Requests to remove accurate reporting about a person are handled under our Corrections Policy and Editorial Standards, not as data subject requests, though we consider each on its merits.
Retention, security and transfers
We keep data no longer than the purpose requires: operational logs for a short rolling window, correspondence for as long as the matter is live plus a reasonable archive period, and consent records for as long as regulation requires us to prove consent existed. Data is held with reputable hosting providers under encryption in transit; because our infrastructure and our partners operate globally, data may be processed outside your own country, and where the law requires safeguards for such transfers we rely on the mechanisms our providers offer, such as standard contractual clauses. No security is absolute, and we will be straightforward with affected readers if a breach ever touches personal data we hold.
Children
The site is written for a general adult audience and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy in any way that matters, we update this page and change the date below. We do not apply material changes retroactively to data collected under an earlier version. This policy is governed by the laws applicable where the operator is established. Questions about anything on this page: support@myworldnews24.com, subject PRIVACY.
