DMCA & Copyright Policy
Where we stand on copyright
MYWORLDNEWS24 is a publisher, so copyright is not an abstraction to us; it is what protects our own work from being lifted wholesale and what obliges us to treat other people’s work with the same respect. This page explains both directions: how we use third-party material, how to tell us if you believe we have used yours improperly, and what we do about our content appearing on other sites without permission.
How we use material we did not create
Reporting the news means engaging constantly with material owned by others: photographs, video, documents, social media posts, excerpts from other outlets’ reporting. Our rules are simple and enforced at the desk:
- Agency and licensed imagery is used within the terms of its licence and credited.
- Quotation from other outlets is short, attributed by name and linked to the original. We quote to inform and to credit reporting we relied on, never to substitute for reading the source.
- Official documents, government releases and court records are quoted as the public materials they are.
- Embedded social media posts use the platforms’ own embedding tools, which display content the way the rights holder published it.
- Where we rely on fair use, fair dealing or an equivalent exception, we use no more of the work than the journalism requires.
If you believe we have infringed your copyright
Send a takedown notice to support@myworldnews24.com with DMCA as the first word of the subject line. Modeled on the notice requirements of the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act, which we follow as good practice for all complaints regardless of jurisdiction, a complete notice contains:
- Identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed, or a representative list if there are several;
- The exact URL(s) on myworldnews24.com where the material appears; a description alone slows everything down;
- Your name, and contact details we can actually reach you at: email is enough;
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law;
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act for the owner;
- Your physical or electronic signature, which for email may be your typed full name.
Complete notices are acted on quickly, typically within two working days: we remove or disable access to the material while we assess the claim, and we reply to tell you what we did. Incomplete notices get a reply asking for what is missing, which is why the list above is worth following exactly.
What we do when a notice is contested or wrong
Not every claim is valid. Quotation within legal limits, reporting on a document, and criticism that reproduces a small portion of a work are lawful uses, and a takedown notice does not change that. If we conclude a use was lawful we will say so and explain why, and material removed in caution may be restored. Knowingly false takedown claims can carry legal liability for the sender in several jurisdictions, and a pattern of abusive notices from one sender will be treated accordingly. If your complaint is really about accuracy or fairness rather than ownership, the Corrections Policy is the right route and gets you a faster, better answer.
Repeat infringement
Because all content on myworldnews24.com is produced or licensed by our own editorial team, and the site hosts no user-submitted content, the “repeat infringer” machinery of platform law mostly does not apply here. What it means in practice for us: if a licensed supplier or a syndication source repeatedly proves unable to demonstrate rights in what it supplies, we stop using that supplier.
Our content on other sites
The same rules run in reverse. Quoting a paragraph of a MYWORLDNEWS24 story with credit and a link is welcome and needs no permission. Republishing entire articles, running our feeds through auto-posting scripts, translating whole pieces without licence, or presenting our work without attribution is infringement, and we pursue it: first with a direct request, then with notices to the hosting provider, search engines and advertising networks that monetise the copying site. If you want to license our content properly, write to support@myworldnews24.com with PRESS in the subject; legitimate licensing is usually cheap and always faster than a takedown fight.
A note on facts
Copyright protects expression, not information. Nobody, including us, owns the fact that an election was called, a merger announced or a match won. Another outlet reporting the same facts we reported is journalism; another outlet reproducing our sentences is copying. We hold both halves of that distinction honestly, in both directions.
