See Tickets Oversells Glastonbury Coach Rides It Cannot Honour

See Tickets oversold Glastonbury 2027 coach tickets and now asks buyers to reclaim a ride the festival said could not be swapped.

See Tickets sold more Glastonbury 2027 coach tickets than seats on certain routes, then told buyers they must opt in by 31 October to keep the ride. Miss that date and the booking becomes general admission, with the coach fare refunded to the card that paid it.

The festival returns to Worthy Farm from Wednesday 23 June to Sunday 27 June after a fallow year in 2026. General admission is £408, including a £5 booking fee, the first time the ticket has gone over £400.

See Tickets Sold Seats That Were Not There

An email from See Tickets, the festival’s exclusive seller, told affected customers that more coach-package tickets went out for certain departures than there were seats. The agency declined to say how many, and it has not posted a public breakdown of the routes.

Nobody loses the festival ticket. The coach fare comes back automatically unless the lead booker claims the seat by 31 October 2026. Deposits stand, and the remaining balance is still due in April.

THE SALE IN NUMBERS

  • The ticket: £408 including the £5 fee, up £29.50 from £378.50 in 2025.
  • The deposit: £100 per person at purchase, with £308 plus postage due from 9am BST on 1 April to 11.59pm BST on 7 April 2027.
  • Coach sale: 6pm BST on 1 October 2026, gone in under 30 minutes.
  • General admission: 9am BST on 4 October 2026, gone in under 45 minutes.

See Tickets apologised in the same email and thanked people for their patience, then closed on a line that reads as if the buses were never in doubt.

We’re looking forward to welcoming you to the festival in June.

The festival has not issued its own account of the error. See Tickets would not add to the email.

A Rule the Festival Still Prints

The awkward part sits on Glastonbury’s own 2027 ticket notice, posted on 8 September, and it has not been taken down. Coach travel was sold as a sealed product. Tickets with coach travel cannot be changed to general admission tickets, and anyone who bought one “must travel on your designated coach.”

That is not a suggestion. Festival entry tickets for the coach sale are handed out on the bus. Miss the coach and entry can be refused. Postage is £3 on those orders because the wristband does not go in the post the same way; general admission postage is £11.25 per order.

WHAT THE FESTIVAL TOLD COACH BUYERS

  • Health: Do not book the coach if a disability or health condition makes a long, unbroken ride a bad idea.
  • The toilets: Coaches have at least one toilet, but it is not wheelchair accessible and will not be cleaned on the journey.
  • The load: Every coach will be full, in close quarters, for the whole trip.
  • PAs: A personal assistant who gets a PA ticket has to travel on the same designated coach, on an extra booked seat.
  • Campervans: A coach booking blocks a later campervan pitch in the accessible or general fields.

The fix now on the table is the swap that page said was impossible. See Tickets is doing it as the default.

Thursday’s Sale Was a Three-Day Head Start

Coach packages went first, at 6pm on Thursday 1 October, three days before the Sunday general sale. That is why the allocation vanished faster than the main pile. Wednesday departures went early, and See Tickets called the whole coach sale done in under 30 minutes.

Plenty of groups did not want the bus. They wanted a ticket, and Thursday was the first door that opened. Laura Brooks, who lives in Birmingham, told interviewers she and her friends bought the coach package after failing so often at general admission. She had planned to meet them in London for a shared ride to Somerset. With the booking heading toward general admission, they can travel from their own homes.

I don’t mind the admin error, they’re clearly dealing with it sooner than later. These things happen.

“I’m just glad we’ve not lost our tickets altogether,” she added. That is the mood the cheaper fix was built for. Hiring extra coaches would have honoured the original product. Unbundling the ride is simpler, and it matches how the Thursday sale actually behaved: a three-day head start with a bus stapled on.

The festival had already sold a blank bill before any lineup when those two waves ran. No acts are named yet. Emily Eavis has said all three Pyramid Stage headliners are booked. Registration closed at 5pm BST on 25 September, and tickets remain strictly non-transferable, with the holder’s photo on the pass.

Sunday’s general admission sale, at 9am on 4 October, lasted under 45 minutes. See Tickets then posted that the 2027 tickets were gone and that confirmation emails were going out.

Fares From £26 to £185

The coach add-on was paid in full at purchase, on top of the £100 festival deposit, and that is the slice now being refunded. Listed 2027 fares ran from £26 for a Bristol single to £185 for an Edinburgh return, depending on town and whether the trip was one way or both.

SELECTED 2027 COACH ADD-ON FARES

Route Coach fare
Bristol single £26
Bristol return £53
Birmingham return £63
London return £89
Manchester return £122
Newcastle return £158
Edinburgh return £185

You could book up to six festival tickets in one go, but a coach order had to share one departure town. Pickup times are not chosen at sale. The festival says those times land no later than 30 days before travel, and buyers have to be ready to leave at any hour on the day they picked.

A refund of £26 is a round of drinks. A refund of £185 is a serious slice of the trip. Either way the festival ticket stays at £408, with £308 still to pay in April, plus postage.

Lead Bookers Have Until 31 October

The email went to lead bookers, not to every name on the order. Anyone who wants the original seat has to answer by 31 October 2026. Do nothing and the booking flips to general admission, with the coach fare sent back to the original card.

See Tickets has not said what happens if more people opt in than leftover seats on a given departure. The unpublished oversell figure is the hole in the plan. A second scramble for a finite bus is possible, and the public record does not show a tie-break.

THE PATH FROM SALE TO THE FARM

  1. 8 September 2026: Festival confirms £408 tickets, the £100 deposit, and the two-wave sale.
  2. 1 October 2026: Coach packages go on sale at 6pm BST and sell out in under 30 minutes.
  3. 4 October 2026: General admission opens at 9am BST and sells out in under 45 minutes.
  4. 21 October 2026: See Tickets’ oversell email becomes public. Certain departures had more tickets than seats.
  5. 31 October 2026: Last day to opt in and keep a coach seat.
  6. 1 to 7 April 2027: Balance window for the remaining £308, plus postage, parking passes, and cancellation protection.
  7. 23 to 27 June 2027: Glastonbury 2027 at Worthy Farm.

Unpaid and cancelled tickets, including leftover coach seats, are due back through the festival’s own resale in spring 2027. That is the next door for anyone who missed both October waves. The resale date is not set.

National Express and the Spare Seats

The Thursday product is not the only bus to the farm. National Express, the festival’s official coach firm, sells travel on its own to people who already hold a ticket, with coaches from over 90 key locations straight to the on-site coach station.

Those NX seats went on sale on 4 October, the same morning as general admission. They are a separate checkout from the See Tickets bundle. A buyer whose package is converted to general admission is free, in principle, to try that market, or the train to Castle Cary, or a car if a parking pass is still there in April.

The two products were always doing different jobs. See Tickets bundled the festival pass with a mandatory ride and opened three days early. National Express sells the ride to people who already got in. The error punches a hole between them. Some converted buyers will want a bus they can actually choose. Some never wanted one.

Conversion Opens the Car Park in April

Coach packages were sold as green travel. Glastonbury asks people to arrive by public transport or bike, and in 2025 it put over a third of all ticket-holders in that group. It also says the train is 67 per cent less polluting than driving, with a free shuttle from Castle Cary.

The default conversion works the other way. A former coach buyer can add a car parking pass in the 1 to 7 April window, which the coach rules had blocked, and can look at campervan pitches that the same rules had ruled out. Each flipped booking is one more household that may arrive on Somerset roads instead of on a counted seat.

That is a gift if you have a car, a licence, and friends who can share the fuel. It is a problem if you bought Thursday because you cannot drive, you live on a thin rail line, or you needed the bus that hands you the ticket on board. Those buyers now have a deadline to reclaim a seat they already paid for, and no public figure for how many seats are left.

The ticket still covers more than 4,000 performances across more than 100 stages, five nights of camping, and the usual cut for Oxfam, Greenpeace and WaterAid. The £308 balance is still due in April. Lead bookers who want the bus have until 31 October 2026. Everyone else on those oversold departures gets the fare back and a general admission pass for June.
